Runtime status of a local service instance.

Transitions: Starting → Running → Stopping → Stopped. Any state can transition to Error if an unrecoverable fault occurs.

Variants

Starting

Service is initialising (e.g. subscribing to gossip topics).

Running

Service is fully operational and announcing itself to the network.

Paused

Service is temporarily paused for maintenance.

The service will resume within eta_minutes. paused_at is a Unix timestamp (seconds).

Stopping

Graceful shutdown has been requested but not yet completed.

Stopped

Service has shut down cleanly.

Service encountered an unrecoverable error; payload is a description.
